Inspiring Believing Achieving

Mr Ritchie takes football every Monday afternoon from 3.00 - 4.00pm during Term 1 and Term 2. Boys and girls from Primary 5-7 take part in passing, dribbling, shooting and tackling exercises and always finish with some matches.
The team enters the Mid Ulster league for small, medium and large schools every year and also participate in other competitions such as the Jones Shield indoor tournament, Christian Aid five-a-side tournament and many others.
Last year (2016-17) we had a fantastic year of success with the boys and girls teams winning multiple tournaments and playing an exciting brand of passing football. You can read a detailed report on our success on the Parents Page, Mullavilly Success page of the website.

The boys football team today pulled off a remarkable set of results to become the NATIONAL 7 a side football champions having already finished as runners up in the indoor 5 a side tournament as well. They were a class apart all day winning all 7 of their matches and only conceding one goal and even that was an o.g. They played a really high quality brand of passing football throughout and deserved to lift the trophy. Peter was reliable as ever in nets and didn't look like conceding a goal, Adam and James were superb in defence as well as playing a key role in starting many of our attacks with Adam scoring in both the semi final and final as well. Ethan was full of skill, speed and creativity on thr right wing, Oliver our captain drove the team forward and linked the whole team together with some lovely passing. Jake played really well in midfield and upfront, working hard for the team and creating opportunities for others. Kobe led the line up front really well and scored a super goal. And special mention to Harry, our youngest player, still only P5 and as good as any player there. Everyone in Mullalvilly is so proud of this fantastic achievement and of all of our success over the last two years. A special team finished off the season with a special win.

Lucy our goalkeeper only conceded one goal, Kerrie and Chelsie were rocks in defence, Lucy and Emily showed lots of skill and worked hard for the team in midfield and Keeley provided the flair scoring 11 of our 12 of our goals and being a standout player throughout. Every single girl should be proud of their efforts and sportsmanship shown throughout the tournament. Well done Girls! Boys win Mullen Cup and qualify for National 7 a side finals

Today (11/5/18) the boys took part in the Mullen Cup 7 a side tournament. The Mullen Cup is the finals day for the league where the 12 best schools who have qualified take part to determine the overall winner in the Mid Ulster region. We had already won the 5 a side indoor tournament and qualified for the National Finals. Today the boys played superbly to do exactly the same thing for the 7 a side tournament and will take part in the National finals in a few weeks time. We qualified from our group without conceding a goal and then played better and better as the tournament progressed, winning the quarter and semi finals against strong opposition. Having gone a goal down in the final to a very strong Drumgor team they fought back and equalised and so the final finished 1-1 and both schools shared the trophy. For a school of our size to have won both the 5 a side and 7 a side tournaments for our area and to have qualified for the National finals in bith is a remarkable achievement!

Boys Finish 2nd in National Indoor Finals

Today (19/4/18) the boys took part in the National Indoor finals ran by the IFA having comfortably won the Mid Ulster qualifying section and the Jones Shield trophy. There were schools from all over the country taking part, split into two groups of five. The boys played superbly well winning two and drawing two in their group and qualifying for the semi finals. They then managed to get through a tight semi final and qualified for the final, now within touching distance of being National champions. A very close final finished 1-1 and so we went to penalties. Unfortunately we lost out in sudden death penalties after having to controversially retake our last penalty and missing on the second attempt having scored first time round. The boys have done Mullavilly proud with their performance and have acheieved something very special. Second in the whole of Northern Ireland sounds pretty good!!

Boy's win Tandragee Recreation Indoor Tournament

The boys added to their trophy cabinet today when the A team won the Tandragee Recreation Indoor Tournament. The B team also performed very well to qualify for the semi finals before eventually finishing in 3rd place. The B team were drawn in a group of 5 teams and managed to qualify for the semi finals in second place after winning their first 3 games before narrowly losing out 1 - 0 in their final group match. The A team came through a tough group in 1st place winning 4 and losing one of their matches. This meant our A and B teams ended up facing each other in the Semi Finals with the A team winning 3 - 0. The B team then went into a 3rd/4th place play off and played very well to win 2-0. The A team then played Tandragee in the final and played very well, having lost out to them in the group stages to win 2 - 0 and deservedly winning the tournament and lifting the trophy. Both teams played superbly all day and scored some lovely goals. The B team had three P6's playing their first matches for the school who all played very well. Well done to both teams and to Oliver for wining player of the tournament.
